Namaste and greetings! Carolyn Lee PLLC made its debut in IIUSA’s India EB-5 Passport Series, kicking off in Bengaluru on Thursday, September 19, 2024, followed by Ahmedabad, Pune, and ending this extraordinary journey and experience last week in Mumbai.

We met old friends and new ones, meeting a number of investors, agents, regional centers, and broker representatives. And we ate amazing food!

On all cities, our principal and founder, Carolyn Lee, Esq., moderated the second panel covering the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act of 2022 and recent trends in EB-5. We thought we would share here some of the few excellent questions we heard from the audience as well as from investors visiting our booth.

ANSWER: Maybe. You may be a candidate for a standalone or direct EB-5 visa or possibly an L-1A or EB-1C visa. For a brief introduction to L-1A or EB-1 C visas, the final minutes of this video may interest you, starting at minute 32:56. Please contact us for a free consultation to discuss what solution best fits your case.

ANSWER: No. You personally must be the investor, not your company. Your company can be the source but not the investor. For example, your company may make profit distributions to you, and you could potentially use the distributions for your EB-5 investment.

ANSWER: Yes. This video of a recent event with Carolyn Lee at Cornell University covered this topic in detail. We invite you to watch it and to contact us for a free consultation to answer any follow-up questions.

ANSWER: We do not select projects on behalf of clients. It is a personal decision that clients must consider, taking into account both the financial and immigration aspects. Still, it is part of our due diligence to review the project(s) clients select to ensure they comply with US Immigration Law.

ANSWER: Yes. Partial investments are an option; however, you need a clear plan to “top up” within a specified time period. For more on this topic, we invite you to watch our recent webinar on this topic here.

ANSWER: No. Your EB-5 application can include your spouse and children under 21. However, if you want to sponsor your parents or siblings to come to the US, you will first need to obtain your green card and then become a naturalized citizen. Please note that the sponsoring process for parents or siblings can take many years. Therefore, it might be a better option to consider a separate EB-5 application or explore other visa options.

ANSWER: Absolutely. Our earliest clients, dating from early 2000’s, were Indian investors, residing in India, Dubai, and the U.S. in H-1B status. We have worked on complex cases involving multiple sources, gifts, stocks, real property sales, among other scenarios.

We have an exceptional team headquartered in our Ithaca, New York office, as well as in other time zones, delivering exceptional service to clients worldwide using video conference technology such as Zoom and Teams.

We also work with trusted local partners in India who can provide additional in-person support for your immigration journey as needed.

In all, we are ready to put our decades of EB-5 experience and leadership to serve our Indian clients worldwide.

Our experience in India was remarkable. We deeply appreciate the warmth and hospitality we received, and we eagerly anticipate future visits!

We are dedicated to making the American Dream a reality and we look forward to being your trusted partners on this journey.
